Regions of France

Alsace

On the Eastern border of France adjacent to Germany.  Semi-Continental climate. Main city Strasbourg - Properties for sale in Alsace.

Aquitaine

On the Western Atlantic coast - the Dordogne department is a favourite destination. Mild coastal, humid weather. Property expensive on the coast and in the Dordogne valley. Properties for sale in Aquitaine.

Auvergne

Rural Central France with some unusual scenery - lunar appearance from the eroded extinct volcanoes. Climate: Cold on high ground during the winter, warm summers. Properties for sale in Auvergne.

Brittany

North and Western France surrounded by water on 3 sides - Channel and Atlantic Ocean. Wet and windy in the winter but fresh summers with sun. Property more expensive on the coast but rural central Brittany much cheaper. Properties for sale in Brittany.

Burgundy

Champagne-Ardenne

Centre

Popular Loire Valley with lovely chateaux and good warm sunny summers. Property can be more expensive along the Loire but property prices much cheaper in the South of Centre. Properties for sale in Centre.

Corsica

Franche-Comte

Ile-de-France

Languedoc-Roussillon

Growing in popularity with skiing on the Spanish border, and miles of sandy beaches. Prices have been rising here - property cheaper away from the coast. Mild winters and 300 days of sunshine. Properties for sale in Languedoc-Roussillon.

Limousin

Central France but with many lakes and lovely summers but short sharp cold winters. Up and coming area - house prices are beginning to rise. Properties for sale in Limousin.

Lorraine

Lower Normandy

Midi-Pyrenees

Nord Pas-de-Calais

Picardy

Poitou-Charentes

Provence (PACA)

Has been popular for many years even before Peter Mayle - excellent all year around climate (apart from the Mistral). Property very expensive on the Med coast and certain inland areas. Away from these areas property prices reasonable. Properties for sale in Provence.

Rhone-Alpes

Dramatic spectacular variations in scenery - cold (snow) in the winter but glorious summers. Ski area property can be very expensive but in more remote rural areas properties cheaper. Properties for sale in Rhone-Alpes Property.

Upper Normandy

With its close proximity to Paris, the most sought after areas can be expensive. Climate similar to south of UK. Coastal property prices surprisingly reasonable.  Properties for sale in Upper Normandy. Western Loire
