Property for Sale French Alps
The Alps is the name for one of the great mountain range systems of Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east; through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany; to France in the west. The French Alps are renowned for the skiing in the Winter and marvellous landscapes in the summer for hikers.
French Ski Property
Property for sale in French Alps around the main ski areas are
expensive. Prices are less expensive in the lower altitude resorts. Rural
areas are cheaper.
The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, at 4,808 metres (15,774 ft), on the Italian–French border. All the main peaks of the Alps can be found in the list of mountains of the Alps and list of Alpine peaks by prominence.
The Alps are generally divided into the Western Alps and the Eastern Alps. The division is along the line between Lake Constance and Lake Como, following the rivers Rhine, Liro and Mera. The Western Alps are higher, but their central chain is shorter and curved; they are located in Italy, France and Switzerland.
The French Prealps are the group of mountain ranges of medium elevation at the periphery of the French Alps, stretching from Lake Geneva south-west to the Drôme River. They lie west of the line Chamonix - Albertville - Grenoble.
The Western Alps are commonly subdivided with respect to geography: so the French areas are -
* Maritime Alps (Alpes-Maritimes department)
* Cottian Alps (Hautes-Alpes and Savoie)
* Dauphiné Alps (group of mountain ranges in south-eastern France)
* Graian Alps (Savoie)
* Chablais Alps (between the Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif)
