Property Description: South-facing 1-bed flat in 18th century building in artists’ square in Grasse.
An ideal base for visiting the South of France, this charming sunny flat looks onto an old square of Grasse where you can find several artists’ ateliers. The facades of the buildings have been renovated in beautiful oranges and ocres - a really lovely sight at different times of day, as the sun rises and sets. The nearby cathedral adds a real touch of France to the picture from the balcony.
The flat, which is about 30m2, has been renovated inside and combines fresh white walls with traditional wooden beams and terracotta floors, giving a true French feel. The high ceilings give a feeling of lots of space. On entering, you walk into the main living area which, in turn, walks out onto the 10m2 balcony where you can taste the local delights with a bottle of wine and watch the world go by. There is a small kitchenette, a shower room and a separate toilet.
The bedroom is separate from the main living area and this can also be used as an office or atelier as there is a separate mezzanine area containing a double bed.
The stairwell has not been renovated and is currently the next project on the syndicate’s list.
Grasse is the centre of the perfume industry in France and it is here that the perfumes for such brands as Chanel and Dior have their origins. As the perfume lorries pass, you sometimes even get the occasional whiff of perfume essence coming through the window! It is an ideal base for visiting Cannes and other well-known and loved places on the Cote d’Azur. Grasse is well served by regular buses and trains, with the recent reopening of the train service to Cannes and Nice, yes you are even within 30 minutes of the Med!
