Lussac les Chateaux Property Description
This house sits in the heart of Lussac les Chateaux with the large town square (home of the weekly market!) and a variety of shops (including a bakery across the road that does particularly fine apple turnovers!) right at hand. Poitiers, with its air and rail links to the UK, is around half an hour’s drive from the house.
On the ground floor, you enter through what is a sort of garage area (30m2) which runs from the front to the back of the house. This area has tomettes (old terracotta floor tiles) so you could keep some of this as a garage and possibly convert the rest to further living space. At the front of the actual house is a living room (18m2) with a wooden floor and a fireplace and to the rear of the house is a basic “kitchen” (20m2) with a sink and a fireplace.
Stairs from the kitchen lead to the first floor where there are four bedrooms (7, 15, 15, and 25m2) and a wc and basin tucked under the stairs. There is currently no shower or bath in the house so you would probably want to convert one of the smaller bedrooms into a bathroom. Stairs lead from the first floor up into the attic which, although it has some low beams, looks to have conversion potential.
To the rear of the house is a courtyard of around 50m2. At the moment, this courtyard is very overgrown so it was a little difficult to get to the outbuildings but we could see that the large attached outbuilding has a workshop on the ground floor and three rooms on the first floor. The roof of this outbuilding is clearly needs some work as leaks have damaged some of the rooms below (the roof on the main house looks fine though!)
The house is connected to mains drainage and with a bit of TLC it would make a lovely home in a busy small town.
