Marciac is a peaceful, typical Gascon village supplied with all the facilities you could require for everyday living including bakers, butchers, an “8 to 8” supermarket etc, the centre of the village is a magnificent square with several cafes & restaurants from which you can watch the world go by. The village is surrounded by rolling Gascon countryside & has a leisure lake, gym & fitness centre. The major town of Tarbes is about 40 minutes away, there are airports at Pau (50 mins) & Biarritz (about 1 hour), as is the Atlantic coast, with its miles of sandy beaches & pine forests. Toulouse is about 1 ½ hours drive. For 2 weeks of every year (August time), Marciac plays host to the largest Jazz festival in France (one of the largest in Europe), featuring some of the greatest names in the world of jazz. The village is transformed into a bustling mecca with many temporary restaurants, streets of stalls with goods from all over the world & all types of jazz played in marquees, at a cost, or free on the streets & in the bars. The atmosphere is spectacular. You do not have to like jazz to enjoy the atmosphere!
