Every Saturday morning is the regular market but the 3rd Saturday in the month it expands up into the town and stalls cover the āChamp de Foire car park. Piegut Pluviers is in the Dordogne about 30 minutes away. It is renowned for it's market every Wednesday. One of the largest in the region you can find stalls offering all manner of goods from fashion antiques household goods and pottery through to the best and freshest of local produce and luxury food items such as the Foie Gras for which the area is famous. The market of Piegut-Pluviers is said to be one of the very best of its kind in the whole of France. Those of you who want a bit of city life Limoges is easily accessible via the N21. To the north and south of Limoges there are numerous commercial shopping centres. Some of the big name stores are here - Castorama Schmit Conforama Decathlon to name a few. Limoges is famous for its porcelain and the Les Halles covered market a nineteenth-century iron and glass structure. The alleyways inside are full of atmosphere noise and bustle and tempting smells of mouth-watering French food. There were until 1940 no less than 49 breweries in Limoges; real ale is still brewed in the Brasserie St Martial Place Denis-Dussoubs. Leisure and Pleasure The Limousin is the land of lakes and forests and hundreds of French come to this area for their holidays each year. If you are a lover of the great outdoors this is the place to be. There are hundreds of kilometres of trails which are open to walkers horse riders mountain bikers trail riders. The funny thing is you very rarely meet anyone as the network is so vast. The lake at St. Mathieu offers all the traditional French amenities: toilets showers and of course a man-made beach.
