French Property Price Guide
Some general points (guide-lines only!)
- prices tend to increase as you go further South
- coastal properties are more expensive than inland properties
- properties near Budget air-line airports are more expensive
- chic destinations are expensive: Cannes, Nice, St Raphael, Peter Mayle
country (Luberon), Le Touquet, Dordogne, Ski Resorts
- Rural property is cheaper than urban property
- Limousin, Champagne-Ardenne, and Franche-Comte have cheap rural
property. Be warned property prices are rising
- Provence, Paris, Vannes (South Brittany), Val d'Isere are expensive

| Historically prices in
France have increased slowly but in the last few years prices have risen
dramatically. Across the country it increased about 10% last year but
there are many regional variations. |

Agency fees
are much higher in France than UK. Please check they are
included in the price
Notaire Fee - the property transaction is handled by a Notaire - allow 6
to 8.5% of the purchase price. |
