Vaucluse Department

The Vaucluse is bordered on the West by the Rhône river and by the Durance on its southern border. Mountains cover a significant surface of the territory in the East, with the Mont Ventoux (also called "Giant of Provence") its highest point at 1,912 m, which dominates the natural landscape over the most fertile plain for fruits and vegetables in Southern France.

The Vaucluse includes a number of important mountain ranges, notably the Dentelles de Montmirail, Mont Ventoux and the Luberon.

Other important cities include: Orange, Avignon.

Attractions in Vaucluse

Le Luberon
This is a land where you can find castles and perched villages. Peter Mayle and his bestseller “Une Année en Provence” speaks a lot about it.
Right in the heart of Provence, you can visit cultural sites as the Abby of Senanque and the typical villages of Gordes, Ménerbes, Lourmarin.

The Rhône Valley and The Comtat Venaissin
Avignon, Orange, Cavaillon and Carpentras are famous cities of this fertile valley. Very well know xines such as Côtes du Rhône, Côtes de Ventoux and Côtes de Luberon mostly classed A.O C, Chateauneuf du Pape along with Gigondas add prestige to the region.

Haut Vaucluse (Provence des Papes)
The historically site of Vaucluse. Below the Pope's Enclave the land is rich in truffles, lavender, honey and good wine. This is the Provence made from the love of hard work and the knowledge that has been transmitted from fathers to sons.
