Department >> LozereLozere DepartmentThis is the northern most department of the Languedoc-Roussillon and is totally landlocked. It is a sparsely populated department well away from the hustle and bustle. If you are looking for a traditional French rural area in the South, then this is a good choice. The main attractions are the town of Mende sitting on the Lot River, vineyards of the Lot Valley and the spectacular Gorges du Tarn. Access to this department is less easy than the other departments but Nimes airport / TGV station is not too far away. Autoroute access is good.
