Gard Department

The Gard is the most easterly department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Almost land-locked, there is a small strip along the coast. The main towns are Nimes, Uzes, and Ales. The department is effectively divided up by the Cevennes to the north, the limestone hills of the Garrigues, and southern area bordering the Med. Another budget airline airport at Nimes has contributed to property price inflation.

The area is renowned for the Roman architecture and there are wonderful examples everywhere!

Gard Property

Property prices are expensive – due much to its proximity to Provence. Along the coast even renovation projects are in the 200K euros bracket. Nimes is expensive but it is our recommended location; we think the airport, denim (de Nimes)!, Roman architecture and good choice of property make Nimes are irresistible choice.
