Department >> GardGard DepartmentThe Gard is the most easterly department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Almost land-locked, there is a small strip along the coast. The main towns are Nimes, Uzes, and Ales. The department is effectively divided up by the Cevennes to the north, the limestone hills of the Garrigues, and southern area bordering the Med. Another budget airline airport at Nimes has contributed to property price inflation.The area is renowned for the Roman architecture and there are wonderful examples everywhere!
