Train speeds up French property hunt
Heading across France to find Dordogne properties for sale or that perfect cottage in Provence has just got that bit easier.
Driving through France from the UK just to go house hunting can be a tiring undertaking but the opening of a new high speed train could make all the difference.
Railways make France more accessible The service between Paris and eastern French cities will not only cut down on travel times but will offer a much wider range of destinations for Brits hoping to buy French property.
Cities which are now accessible via the new Train a Grande Vitesse(TGV) include Strasbourg, Nancy, Metz and Reims.
Getting to grips with French railways France's railway service is reputed to be one of the best networks in Europe with both intercity rail links and frequent express trains.
Tickets can be bought at stations or purchased on the SCNF website and you will be asked to pay an added fee to reserve a seat.
Online tickets can be collected at a machine in the station as in the UK, while cheap tickes, known as Prems, can be bought and printed out from your computer.
These cheap fares can be bought 90 days in advance of the journey and sell out fast so passengers are advised to take advantage quickly. They are, however, non exchangeable and non refundable.
