Train speed record hit in Champagne Ardenne
Visitors enjoying a country stroll through France's Champagne-Ardenne region would have had a shock yesterday, but it would probably have only lasted a second.
That's if they managed to catch a glimpse of the Train a Grande Vitesse (TGV) which broke the world speed record for a conventional rail train.
Blasting through the region, the vehicle reached a whopping 357mph, which was way off its nearest British rival of 208mph reached by a Eurostar train in 2003.
Watermills in picturesque Champagne At that speed it is unlikely that those who dared to get onboard the record breaking vehicle would have seen much of their surroundings.
But for those who appreciate a more relaxed approach to visiting France, Champagne Ardenne has plenty on offer.
For a particularly romantic getaway, people hoping to buy property or just holiday in France would do well to consider staying in a watermill in the region.
The picturesque and unique mills will give any visitor a truly French experience while also being great fun for any kids who come along too.
Sample the Champagne of Champagne For those who aren't planning to have children in tow, what better way to experience the Champagne region than for what it is famous for?
The bubbly booze, which is popular with the rich and famous across the world, originates from the area and many say that only Champagne made in the province is the real, good stuff.
