Take a trip to the Centre of France
Wherever you have chosen to buy French property, all those who move to the country would be well advised to take a trip to Centre.
The popular region of Centre is located in the Paris basin and covers much of north central and central France.
Well known for its Cabernet, Pinot and Sauvignon grapes, it is also a vast and rich cultural area filled with stunning castles and cathedrals.
The Loire Valley Also known as Chateau de la Loire or 'Castles of the Loire' the Loire Valley is widely regarded as one of the best places for tourists to visit. Rich in culture, the area is home to a number of fairytale castles which have throughout the decades been renovated and expanded.
Some of the most impressive of the 300 odd castles are Amboise, Azay le Rideau, Blois, Chambord, Chenonceaux, Cheverny and Villandry with the renaissance having a great influence on both the buildings and magnificent courtly gardens.
Orleans If the castles of the Loire Valley don't contain enough history to satisfy you, a trip to Orleans should. Orleans has strong ties with Joan of Arc who stormed the city in 1429 to overthrow English forces and restore Charles VII to the French throne.
Visitors to the unique town will see reminders of the saint everywhere, particularly in the Cathedrale Ste Croix where her pedestal is protected by two gold leopards.
Orleans is also useful base for those hoping to take tours of the Loire Valley and the surrounding vineyards of Sancerre.
