Brittany has long been a popular haunt for UK tourists with its endless sandy beaches and traditional French food.

Thousands celebrate life of St Anne

Held on the beach at the small fishing town of Plonevez-Porzayat, the religious day is one of the biggest in the whole of the region and celebrates the life of Mary the Virgin's mother, Sainte Anne.

For 80 years, pilgrims have travelled to the town from across France to attend the mass and then join a huge procession across the sand dunes where participants carry ancient Breton crosses and banners.
