Spend more than a year in Provence

Located on the stunning coast of the south of France, Provence has one of the most exciting and yet relaxing atmospheres in the country.

For those who dream of getting away from it all, the area offers everything from the famous flamingos of the Carmargue to its beautiful coastline.

Those looking for a bit more adventure would do well to rent a villa in Provence and check out the area's ancient fortified towns and villages as well as its popular food and wine.

Also worth a visit is the city of Aix en Provence, which is built over hot springs and was first founded in 122 BC.

Gastronomy in Provence

As for the food, Provence is famous for its wide selection of olives, olive oils and truffles as well as offering up a selection of beautiful wines.

Reflecting most of the Mediterranean, the area's chefs focus on fresh foods and spice things up with thyme, oregano, rosemary and fennel.

Popular meats used in cooking include lamb and game, while goat's cheese is also a popular after dinner treat.

The Cote d'Azur

A trip to Provence is never complete without experiencing some of its trendiest seaside resorts including the ever popular St Tropez and of course, Cannes.

St Tropez is famous both for the presence of the rich and famous and the stunning yachts which are moored in the harbour all year around. Each year, in early October, a regatta is also held in the bay.

Also pulling in the crowds each year is the Cannes Film Festival which is held in May and sees celebrities from across the world pour into the seaside town.
