Rival to Cannes in Normandy

If you were under the impression that the only place in France with a popular film festival was Cannes, its time you took a quick visit to Normandy.

Set in the glamorous Deauville resort, the American Film Festival is, to the French, regarded as one of Cannes' biggest rivals and sees film buffs from across the globe flock to the country to enjoy the latest big screen hits.

Hollywood comes to town

Held annually, the event welcomes the glitterati of Hollywood, who head to Centre International de Deauville to enjoy the shows.

For ten days the area goes movie mad, with even those who don't manage to squeeze into the film theatres still able to capture the glamour and glitz of the event simply by being in town.

Held in September, with tickets going on sale in August, the festival is a must-see for anyone who is thinking of buying Normandy property for sale or just visiting the region for a holiday.

Celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year, the event has in the past drawn in the likes of Edward Norton, Oliver Stone and Brian De Palma.
