Retire in style with Eurostar

Many people dream of retiring to France but are concerned that they will struggle to go back and forth to the UK and visit friends and family.

But heading across the English Channel has just been made that bit easier with tickets for the new St Pancras-based Eurostar going on sale this week.

Although the train has been travelling to and from France for 13 years from Waterloo, it is yet to depart from its new home in north London and looks set to see thousands more holidaymakers head to Europe.

First train departing soon

The first train will leave the station in November and investors and those who are thinking of buying property in France are already focusing on the benefits the new service will bring.

For those who are retiring to France, the train will allow easier access to the UK and will also cost less than flying.

Holidaymakers concerned about their carbon footprint will also be buoyed by the news that Eurostar's trains emit ten times less carbon dioxide than comparable journeys by air.

Train chiefs expect heavy demand

"We are expecting heavy demand from customers keen to enjoy even faster, shorter journeys to the continent and who want to see the stunning restoration of St Pancras International station," said Richard Brown, chief executive of the rail firm.

The high-speed railway will reach speeds of up to 186 mph, making travelling to and from your dream French property even faster.
