Normandy welcomes Sainte Therese pilgrims
Investors who are looking into buying Normandy property for sale may want to consider house hunting in September when the historic city of Lisieux holds one of the most spectacular events in the region.
Each year, thousands take the pilgrimage to the huge Basilica to celebrate the life of Sainte Therese and see a collection of her relics.
Thousands flock to Lisieux Although the scale of the event is not quite the same as that of the Lourdes shrine, the occasion still attracts visitors from across the world who flock to the town on the last Sunday of September.
There, pilgrims can observe a display of the relics of the saint, who died in 1897 at the age of 25 after turning to God at 15 and living in the convent at Lisieux.
History of Sainte Therese Also known as the "little flower", the young Therese still managed to write 20 prayers and an autobiography in her short life and has been named the patron saint of missions.
Other areas of interest in Lisieux include the Cathedrale Saint-Pierre, built between 1170 and the middle of the 13th century and the Jardin de l'Eveche public gardens.
