Lille's festival of flavours in Nord Pas de Calais

France is famous all over the world for its food and the cheeses and meats produced in the Nord Pas de Calais region are no exception.

If you are considering buying a French property and are passing through the area next month, it is advisable that you take some time out to sample the delights at Lille's Festival of Flavours.

Held from the May 19th to 20th, the event will see some of the finest French cuisine on display with local producers offering up confectionery, cheese, beer, coffee and other delights.

Also available will be some specialities of the Nord Pas de Calais region including tarte au sucre or creme brulee a la chicoree.

The city of Lille in Nord Pas de Calais

Lille remains one of the most popular spots in the whole of France thanks to its fascinating heritage and history.

The city is the fourth largest in the country and some must see attractions include the main square named Place du General de Gaulle which contains a beautiful fountain and regularly holds market stalls.

Also worth a look is the town hall as well as the old quarter of the city, known as Vieux Lille where visitors can enjoy the quiet, cobble stone streets and stylish designer shops.

Perhaps one of the most attractive things about the Nord pas de Calais region is its location.

Situated on the Belgian border the region is in fact based right between Paris, London and Brussels.

The location is therefore ideal for anyone who thinking of buying in France but hoping to be able to head back to Blighty at a moments notice.
