Investors 'need not look before they buy'

A property expert has revealed that while it is vital that families looking to buy French property to use as holiday home should visit the location - it is not quite as important that investors do the same.

According to propertyshowrooms.com, people who are hunting for Brittany property for sale or are looking at renovating a farmhouse where they will spend the holidays should always have a good idea about the area they plan to buy in.

Holiday homes need more attention

Andy Welland, an agent for the firm, said those buying property for use as a holiday home should "definitely, 100 per cent" visit the location, because it is a more "personal purchase".

But investors can be more relaxed about their house hunting, with Mr Welland insisting that those who are buying for a profit do not need always to travel abroad and see the site or region.

House hunting not necessary for investors

He said: "Holiday homes tend to come when people have been going to an area for a number of years - they enjoy the culture and enjoy the location and look to buy somewhere there.

"[For investors] it's not necessarily about the country, it's actually about the investment involved and the return. They'll buy over the phone, and probably 90 per cent won't even go to the country they're buying in."
