Investing in France
Buying a French holiday home and then renting it out is likely to earn you a fair bit of cash, according to the latest figures.
The study says shows that currently there are around 400,000 overseas properties owned by British investors with over half of these in Spain and France.
Income yields of holiday homes can reach up to 8.6 per cent, based on average occupancy rates in Europe for 18 weeks.
The report by Holiday Rentals.co.uk said: "Our survey suggests that investment motives are driving the majority of overseas second home purchases with the owners' use of the property (whether that be for use as a holiday home or in retirement) often a secondary consideration."
Renting out holiday homes in France Those who get a French holiday home mortgage would do well to advertise to young couples looking to tie the knot, according to reports.
People who are thinking of getting married overseas are being advised that in terms of cost, it may be cheaper for them to rent a holiday home in a beautiful French location rather than splash out on expensive hotels.
James Leavitt, who owns a property abroad, said: "There's nothing better to me than seeing the joy of a bride and groom getting married in front of my home, with their toes in the sand and the waves as the music."
Travel to Normandy for a little love But it is not just young lovers who look set for romance in France this summer. Couples and friends from across the country look to head to the quiet coastal town of Cabourg in Lower Normandy for the Romantic Film Festival.
The event looks set to screen some of the greatest love films ever made and all with the backdrop of the stunning seaside town.
Some films will be well known and others will be put on show in a bid to give new talent a chance to shine.
