The region is perhaps best known for its stunning volcanic mountains and amazing views, while many are also aware that Volvic, the famous Auvergne spring water, comes from a few miles up the road.

For those who prefer to potter around town, Vichy is renowned for being the most elegant city in Auvergne and is well worth a visit. It is from here that the famous Vichy skin care range was founded with its products being filtered through the earth's deep volcanic layers.

Camping in Auvergne

Although many associate camping in France with Provence in the south, Auvergne offers some fantastic spots to pitch a tent as well as dozens of activities to entertain the family.

Skiing in winter and walks in summer are recommended to take in the scenery of the Massif Centrale mountains, while driving around the twisty roads will allow you to catch a glimpse of the dairy herds and roaming sheep on which the local economy relies.
