Harvest in Brittany
Parents who have bought Brittany property for sale certainly won't be struggling to entertain their youngsters over the summer break.
The region is heaving with child-orientated events, from music concerts to drama workshops and sports courses.
But for those who want to try something a little different, mums, dads and youngsters are being urged to head to the tiny village of Helansal and join in their harvest festival celebrations.
Helansal offers fun for all the family Despite the minute size of Helansal, the residents do all they can to turn the event into a big party, with the afternoon's entertainment including a procession of harvesters all dressed in period costume.
Held annually on August 15th, the festival also serves as a lesson in history, with children and adults alike being invited to witness antique harvesting techniques such as sickle reaping, horse-drawn mowing and steam-powered threshing.
Food for thought All those lessons in history are likely to leave even the most studious visitor hungry - but there is plenty of tasty French food on offer including buckwheat pancakes and grilled sausages washed down with local cider.
The revelry continues well into the early hours with a dance show and free French onion soup for all visitors.
