Get dancing in your new French property

Some people may just want to relax in their newly bought French holiday home but for those who want to get active, there is plenty on offer.

One place where you can't help being up on your feet is in the pretty town of Chateauroux where every year the Dance Training Festival comes to town.

Wannabe dancers of all abilities head to the area in the Centre region to get some top tips on the tango and sessions on the salsa.

Centre gets French tourism boost from festival

In the past, the event has seen up to 5,000 people attend what for many is the most entertaining fortnight in the French dance calendar.

Workshops and demonstrations are held daily from 9am local time and the event welcomes amateurs, intermediaries and experts alike.

Most of those who choose to take on the daunting task of giving participants a helping hand are well known in the dancing community and have a full range of different steps and genres on offer.

Something for everyone in Chateauroux

But if all you fancy doing is relaxing with a glass of French wine there is also the opportunity to let the experts strut their stuff.

Each night some of the country's most famous dancers and musicians head to the central stage to perform, with past guests including Mondino, Cie Exprime, Indigo and Henri Salvador.
