French property in Normandy

Whether you are considering purchasing Normandy property for sale or just fancy visiting for a holiday, the region certainly has plenty on offer for UK travellers.

Its location at the north of the country makes it easily accessible to Brits and while the weather may not as sunny as that of the south, the region's history and culture makes it the ideal spot to buy a holiday home.

Made famous by the Bayeux Tapestry and being the site of the D Day landings during the Second World War, Normandy welcomes thousands of tourists each year.

This is good news for anyone thinking of investing in buy to let property in Normandy as visitors to the area will be seeking accommodation.

Normandy cheeses

Normandy also has much to offer in terms of gastronomy, with great tasting cheeses, wines and apples all grown locally.

To celebrate the fine cuisine, the Normandy town of Livarot holds a festival each year where visitors are invited to sample the area's cheese and even take part in a competition as to who can eat the most in one go.

Located in the heart of the Camembert region, the town also plays host to a cheese museum and makes its own unique brand.

Cider in Normandy

For those who enjoy a little tipple with their cheese, Normandy is also known for its cider and on the first Sunday of every month, the town of St Opportune la Mares holds a market where huge apples and great tasting cider are sold.
