Freedom Races in Normandy

Sports fans looking for Normandy property for sale will not be disappointed, with the region offering up plenty to entertain everyone from golfers to footballers and tennis players.

Indeed, each summer sees many of these athletes join together for the annual Freedom Races which not only celebrate athletics but serve as a memorial for those who lost their lived during the 1944 D-Day landings.

Every July, thousands of runners head to the town of Caen for what is both an emotional and exhilarating day for spectators and those taking part.

Although professionals from across France get involved, the aim is not to win but participate in a communal event to remember those who gave France its freedom.

The race is therefore designed to suit all ages and abilities with children also being able to get involved in a youngsters' fun-run which is held after the adult race.
