Foreign investment in France

Foreign investment in France is likely to get a major boost after it was revealed that the country has retained its leading position as attracting the most tourists in Europe.

This is good news for people who are considering France as an investment opportunity as the influx of tourist will mean many will be looking to rent out French property.

People in the UK who are considering buying a holiday home in the area are therefore advised to start the ball rolling as soon as possible as this summer looks set to be another bumper tourist season for France.

French tourism

Figures show that an estimated 77 million tourists arrived on French soil in 2006, beating off Spain's 59 million, Italy's 37.5 million and the UK's 30.5 million.

Paris remains unbeaten in terms of the number of visitors it receives each year and is a great place to consider getting a French mortgage.

The romantic capital of the world has attractions both old and new and the added tourism benefit of hosting Europe's only Disney theme park.

Disneyland Paris is by far Europe's most popular theme park with 12.8 million admissions in 2006.

US holidaymakers travel to Paris

It seems it is not just Europeans who are planning to head to France this year but Americans too.

A number of holidaymakers from the US, and particularly the east coast, are opting to spend a few more hours in the air to take a long weekend in Paris.

That is according to Conrad Van Tiggelen, chairman of the European Travel commission, who said: "Traditional destinations like Paris and London are really going through the roof for short breaks.

"Seeing the Eiffel Tower is still a great thrill, as is going to the Vatican."
