Ferry offsetting for green Brits

If you are thinking of retiring to France but are concerned about the impact that travelling back to the UK to see family and friends may have on the environment, fear not.

It seems that the UK and France's dedication to staying green is here to stay - with those crossing the Channel now being given the opportunity to offset their ferry travel.

Retiring to France can be a stressful experience but now one thing you don't need to be concerned about is your carbon footprint after a new initiative by FerryGreen.com.

Already, travelling to France by ferry is one of the greenest methods of transport and certainly more environmentally-friendly than getting on a plane.

But now the boat trip from Dover to Calais can be even more eco-friendly with travellers being offered the chance to offset the emissions from their car.

According to the website, it costs just £2 to offset their proportion of the total CO2 produced by the ferry's voyage across 'La Manche'.

"FerryGreen.com allows all cross-channel travellers to book and travel, in a carbon neutral environment, no matter which operator they choose," explained managing director Nicholas Warren.
