Dordogne offers property hunters plenty to do

Families looking at Dordogne property for sale are being advised to head to the area first to experience some of the many activities on offer.

A British newspaper has reported on the variety of things to do in the department based in Aquitaine for both holidaymakers and those looking for Dordogne property for sale.

The Times says that the area is packed with sports and activities to entertain the whole family, with canoeing being one of the most popular.

According to the newspaper, one of the best ways to experience the stunning Dordogne is by water, with the route from Argentat to Beynac allowing families to enjoy sights without the traffic jams and crowds.

It advises taking a canoe ride down the river, which it claims is "ideal" for beginners, as the waters are calm and relaxing.

"For a lot of the time, you can lie back and let the river take you on a gentle sightseeing tour, gazing up at the limestone cliffs, drifting past the chateaux of La Treyne, Castelnaud and Beynac," it says.

Canoe hire shops are based along the riverbank so those hunting for Dordogne property for sale can head down at any time to take a break.

It is also recommended that families make the most of their boat trip in the Dordogne by booking into one of the many campsites dotted along the way and spending the night.

Those who fancy more luxurious accommodation can book a hotel room, many of which cater for those canoeing down the river by storing their boats.
