Discovers the joys of Aquitaine
Aquitaine is one of the most popular regions in France when it comes to holidaying, with long coasts of stunning sandy beaches which stretch 200km from the mouth of the Gironde estuary down to Spanish border.
Aquitaine camping Perhaps one of the most popular ways to while away the days in sunny Aquitaine is to head to one of the many campsites scattered about the region.
There are two main resorts, these being Biarritz in the south and Arcachon to the north which is popular with Bordelais weekenders.
Although it is outdoor living Aquitaine camping is generally a far cry from the muddy, chilly trips of the UK.
Tents and caravans are often huge and fully equipped with a cooker, grill, fridge, crockery and cutlery and kitchen table, making camping a luxurious and enjoyable experience.
Les Landes Surf's Up For those who feel like more than just relaxing in the wooded campsites of Aquitaine there is plenty more on offer in the region to keep you busy.
With the high waves of the Atlantic, the area is a paradise for surfers while the mountainous slopes of slopes of Les Landes and the Pyrenees are also the perfect place for hiking and biking.
Rivers running through the region also provide great opportunity for rafting and canyoning with firms throughout the area offering day trips and lessons.
