Discover the wines of sunny Provence

People who have bought a house in France will be the first to recommend Provence as an ideal place to live, if only for the wonderful wines which are produced in the region.

In order to properly settle into living in France locals advise that you take time out of your week to visit some of the vineyards in Provence.

In the heart of this historical region, between Durance, the Mediterranean, Sainte Victoire and the Alpilles, stretches the land of Wines of Guaranteed Origin also known as the Vineyards of Aix en Provence.

One of the best opportunities you will get to taste some of the wines which are created here is at the annual fair which takes place on the last Sunday of every July on the Cours Mirabeau.

The vineyard is one of the most prestigious in the whole of France and consists of 49 communes extending over 3,500 hectares.

Red wine produced here is particularly excellent thanks to the area's rich soil but the Vineyards of Aix en Provence makes a huge variety of wines.

Particularly worthy of note are the grenache, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and vermentino and each year, the vintage rewards the town with the best of whites, roses and reds out of 200 wines from the vineyards of Aix en Provence.
