Families who are starting to settle into life in France will no doubt quickly begin to think about healthcare, with the local dentists being a top priority.

There are plenty of these to choose from with around 39,000 dentists practising in France, but it is important to pick a professional practitioner.

Most of these are members of the French Dental Association which provides its members with information about all developments in the field of oral health and is renowned for introducing new approaches and initiatives within the dental profession.

Although most dentists will have a firm grip of English, it is still important to know some basic French phrases in order to articulate exactly what problem you have or whether you are just there for a check up.

Healthcare in France

Those who are moving to France have little to fear in terms of general healthcare with its system being hailed as one of the best in the world.

In terms of private and public hospitals, the quality of care is relatively similar and the pricing again is almost the same.

But perhaps one major difference which UK ex pats will immediately note is that waiting lists, which are often slammed in the NHS, simply don't exist in France.

Therefore it is not worth going private just to avoid a hefty wait to be seen as, in France, this is unlikely to occur.
