Cornish Festival in Brittany
It may seem a little incongruous for the French to hold a Cornish Festival but that's exactly what the people of Quimper in Brittany enjoy every year.
The event, held annually from July 14th- 22nd, sees hundreds head down to celebrate Cornish culture with dance, song and other activities.
Art and culture in Quimper More than 200 performers are involved in the nine-day street party, with performances which are free for the public to enjoy.
Highlights of the festival include the famous bagadou parades which involve bands marching to the sounds of a unique pipe, Breton Kendalc'h dancing and the voting in of the 'Queen of Cornwall'.
Quimper, located around three hours from Paris, is an attractive town with tourists being pulled in by the 13th-century Gothic Saint-Corentin Cathedral, museum of fine arts and local history.
