Come to Franche Comte
Located in eastern France, Franche Comte is a traditional province which has long been a favourite spot to visit for tourists and French natives alike.
Major cities in the area include its historical and modern capital Besancon as well as the popular Belfort and Montbeliard.
Visitors are also known to spend time in historical Dole, which was the capital before the region was conquered by Louis XIV, as well as Vesoul and Arbois.
Camping in Jura For those who are looking for a little less history and a little more adventure, Jura is the place to head to.
Meaning "forest", the area is a mass of wide open spaces, mountains, forests, rivers and picturesque villages making it ideal for hiking, cycling and camping.
The region's architectural wealth is also on show throughout the region with historical houses, churches and castles proving the most popular.
Head to Beasancon Also worth a visit is the ancient fortress town of Besancon which is situated beside the Doubs river.
The historic citadel is surrounded by stunning scenery and houses an old town with numerous ancient buildings and architectural delights.
Views from the town, which is situated at the top of the hill, are also not to be missed along with 16th century mansions Palais Granvelle and Hotel de Champagney.
