Buying in Burgundy
When most people think of France's Burgundy region the first things that spring to mind are usually the beef, the wine and the Dijon mustard.
But despite being loved for these little luxuries, the area has a lot more to offer both for potential house buyers and holidaymakers.
The region is seeped in history and legend, with Joan of Arc being captured by the Burgundians back in 1430, making it the ideal place to buy a holiday home.
Burgundy's canals Among those activities that are less well known to visitors is taking a boat ride down the region's 750 miles of canals and rivers.
As well as trips on the water, cyclists are often spotted taking the scenic route, particularly along the Canal of Burgundy which was built in 1765.
The canal contains 209 locks and crosses two counties of Burgundy including the Yonne and Cote d'Or.
Chalon dans la Rue One of the best times to head to Burgundy is in mid-July when local families and friends gather on the streets to join in a huge party.
Known as the Chalon dans la Rue festival, it includes acrobats, dancers, puppeteers and artists with many of the events and activities aimed at children.
As part of the fun, artists take to the streets in a bid to use their imaginations to create a new idea of urban space using lighting and different art techniques.
