Burgundy motor racing

When most people think of Burgundy they usually have rich red wine and good French cuisine in mind, but the more sporty may be inclined to think of motor racing.

Each year the tranquil French region is disturbed by the sounds of thousands of spectators and hundreds of racers taking to the track for the French Grand Prix.

Visitors flock for Formula One

Up to 100,000 spectators from across western Europe head to the Circuit de Nevers at Magny Cours to enjoy the show.

Those who are thinking of buying French property in the region would do well to consider renting it out for the annual event which sees numerous tourists stop by to watch the racing.

The track is unique in the amount of hairpins and bends it contains but while this slows the drivers down, it at least allows the audience to see their favourite sports people close up.

Few can deny the excitement brought on by the race and whether you have retired to France or are simply holidaying there it is certainly worth a visit

Burgundy wine

For those who prefer the quiet life however, the Burgundy region has plenty of other activities and opportunities on offer.

The region is perhaps best known for its wines and visitors are invited to head off to one of the many vineyards where they can sample Burgundy's famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Chablis.
