Aquitaine worth a visit this summer
Aquitaine looks set to become a popular haunt for Brits thinking of moving to France or getting a holiday home in the area, with events aplenty taking place this summer.
The south west region has always been packed with tourists and the rest of 2007 looks to be no exception.
Some of the delights on offer include the Bordeaux International Fair from May 12th to May 21st, which exhibits the best in art and design across the region and the ever flamboyant Bordeaux Pride event.
Bayonne ham festival For those who are partial to some French grub, Bayonne could be just the place to head next month.
The area is known for its local Jambon de Bayonne, a tasty salt-cured meat which is available at the Bayonne Ham Festival.
People from across the country are expected to head to the region from April 5th to April 7th for the annual event which guarantees visitors a true taste of French cuisine.
For those who aren't meat lovers, there is plenty of other food and drink on offer, as well as music, dancing and entertainment.
Fishing in Aquitaine With 250km of coastline and dozens of huge French lakes dotted across the region, Aquitaine is the ideal place to catch a bit of fishing.
Whether you fancy making it a family event or plan to go solo, there are all sorts of fishing opportunities available and guides to show you where to get the best catch.
In the port of Arcachon, you can join professional fishermen on trips or hire your own boats, while the lakes of Gironde and the Landes offer up underwater treats including zander, pike, black bass and roach.
