Cannes gets French tourism booming

France receives more visitors each year than any other country in the world and its booming tourist industry is even more pronounced by the annual Cannes Film Festival.
This year, the world famous event will be celebrating its 60th birthday and welcoming some of the most glamorous stars in the world.
World’s glitterati head into town
Hundreds of actors, producers, directors and tourists are expected to head to the south of France from May 16th to 27th to get a taste of the good life, with dozens of yachts moored in the harbour and the world’s glitterati descending on the town.
And it’s not just the French who enjoy the festival, with films by directors and producers from across the globe being shown.
60th year sees ‘exciting Cannes selection’
This year’s first film will give a taste of two worlds, with Chinese director Wong Kar Wai presenting his English language film My Blueberry Nights starring Jude Law, Natalie Portman and singer Norah Jones.
Although the festival is always regarded as one of the most important in the showbiz calendar, this year’s line up has already been deemed as one of the strongest yet.
